  • KiwiEating kiwi first thing in the morning allows your digestive system to fully absorb the vitamins and minerals in this fruit. Kiwis contain a lot of fiber and minerals that can boost your energy levels.
  • Blueberries Blueberries are full of vitamins and antioxidants that have been shown to regulate blood pressure in metabolism, making them an excellent option for part of a healthy breakfast.

Aside from the beautiful colors and amazing flavor, adding fruits to your breakfast can provide you with several health benefits and set you up for an energy-filled day. Try incorporating fresh fruit into oatmeal, smoothies, yogurt, or by itself to reap the benefits.

What Is The Best Time To Eat Fruits?

Typically, fruit can be consumed at just about any time. So, there’s no real best time to eat fruits. Fruits are nutritious, and they can be consumed at essentially anytime of the day in order to get the benefits of the nutrition that they provide. Some fruits have been known to give people energy, so consuming them early in the morning could be a great idea to get yourself active and energized! You may also consider eating fruit before a workout, as some fruits can give you that boost while also giving you a natural sugar intake. You can burn off that natural sugar during your workout, allowing you to fully absorb all the positive nutrients that come from eating fruit. If you’re still unsure about the best time to eat fruits, we recommend that you consult with a nutritionist as everyone’s body is different and reacts uniquely to certain diets.

The Benefits Of Buying Produce In The Fall

The Benefits Of Buying Produce In The Fall

It’s time to slip on your sweaters and hit your local market for the fall season. Every year, Americans celebrate fall traditions with apple or pumpkin picking. These fall traditions bring people together and encourage locals to buy from a market rather than a supermarket. At E. Armata Inc, located at the Hunts Point Produce Market, we want you to find nature’s perfect snack. Most of us pick up produce for the fall fun, but did you know buying from your local market has many benefits? Eating fresh veggies and fruits can help us maintain a healthy lifestyle. Here are some other facts about produce:

  • Apples can give you more energy than coffee: Consider replacing your morning cup of joe with an apple. Apples are packed with high amounts of nutrition that can keep you energized throughout the day. They are rich in carbohydrates, which most people think you can only find in bread or pasta. Carbohydrates are fuel for the brain, which breaks down into a sugar called glucose, giving you energy for the rest of the day.

  • Pumpkins and other produce can keep you hydrated: When the body gets dehydrated, we can get headaches, muscle aches, low blood pressure, and more. Pumpkins are 94 percent water, which is higher than the amount of water in watermelon. Other hydrating produce are strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, oranges, and cucumbers.

  • The skin on a fruit or vegetable has the most nutrition: Produce like apples, carrots, and cucumbers lose their nutritional value when you peel off the skin. Most produce have large amounts of fiber-packed in the skin, which can benefit your digestive health. However, other produce like oranges, watermelon, and avocados need to be peeled. Still, their rinds or skin are packed in nutritional value.

  • Fall colors say a lot more than you think: Bright orange, red, dark greens, and even some purple vegetables can be packed with healthy nutrition. When carrots or pumpkins are bright orange, this tells us that they’re an excellent source of Vitamin A. Another example is dark green lettuce leaves, which are more nutritious than the lighter colored ones. Purple produce are also known for having cancer-fighting properties.

At E. Armata Inc, located at the Hunts Point Produce Market, we want you to stay informed about seasonal fruits and vegetables. Call us today or visit our market located in Bronx, New York to learn more about the benefits of produce!

Pairing Fruits with Salads

Salads are a healthy and delicious way to provide your body with a slew of essential vitamins and minerals. Pairing your salads with ingredients like protein, cruciferous vegetables, and even fruits can help amp up the volume of flavors in your lunch. It can be hard to know which fruits and vegetables to pair together because you don’t want to ruin your flavor profile, so we are here to help. At E. Armata, a produce distributor in NYC, we can provide you with an ample fruit and vegetable selection to help enhance your salads.

Healthy salad pairing ideas

  • Tomato with basil
    • Basil is a common herb that is used in many different dishes including salads.
    • Tomato and basil complement each other in a unique and savory way. The sweetness of the tomato perfectly complements the fresh herbal taste of the basil in a way that will refresh your palate.
    • This a common pairing that you might find at your local Italian restaurant, as both basil and tomatoes are a staple of Italian foods.
  • Avocado and tomato
    • Avocados and tomatoes are a great pair for your salad due to the unique, almost buttery consistency and very mild flavor of an avocado and the sweetness and crunchiness of a tomato. Together, these two are an unstoppable eat!
  • Strawberries and spinach
    • Raw spinach has just enough of a leafy taste to it that it won’t overpower the bold strawberry flavor.
    • Strawberries provide essential vitamin C while spinach provides essential protein to your salad.
    • This is another common salad pairing that you might find in a restaurant during the summertime when strawberries are in season.
    • At E. Armata, a produce distributor in NYC, we only offer the freshest ingredients that can be used in salads.
  • Fig and Avocado
    • Figs are a delicious fruit that offer a jam-like flavor and texture, while avocados provide the “creamy” factor to your salad.
    • Adding these two to your summer salad will give you just enough of a boost in flavor to satisfy you.

These four are all great salad pairings, but they are not the only ones. Visit our website to learn more about our produce distributor in NYC today!
